Tom Bacon
Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Tom is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Civicap, and is responsible for investment strategy, capital formation, and investment management. Tom brings over 45 years of real estate experience. Prior to Civicap Partners, Tom co-founded Lionstone Investments, a real estate investment firm specializing in conceptualizing, researching and executing national investment strategies. Lionstone was sold to Columbia Threadneedle in 2017. Prior to Lionstone, Tom was a partner with Hines, where he was responsible for developing and investing in real estate throughout the US and Latin America.
Tom’s community activities have included serving as the President and Chairman of the Houston Parks Board for fourteen years where he led the formation of Bayou Greenways 2020, a public-private partnership creating access to 3,000 acres of linear parks and 150 miles of off-road trails within the City of Houston. Tom serves on the advisory board of Rice University’s Kinder Institute, and previously served on the board of Texas Children’s Hospital. Tom is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and is on the Advisory Board of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. In 2017, Tom was the inaugural recipient of the Kinder Institute’s Stephen L. Klineberg Award for distinguished service to Houston.
Tom earned his MBA from Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business and is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Architecture.
